Dec 26, 2023

Travis Pastrana is a world-famous rally legend, and his car collection is just as legendary.

Travis Pastrana lives his life by two rules. Jump big and go fast. Probably why he's broken over 60 bones in his lifetime. He is a certified rally legend for his time in ARA and Subaru rally cross. A legend like Pastrana must have an insane car collection, too.

He loves his supermotos and scramblers, and he has a garage full of them. When it comes to cars, he sticks to his favorite manufacturer and has a couple for his wife and kids, too. Here, you’ll find all the insane performance cars he's owned and driven, and some interesting ones you probably didn't know about.

Travis Pastrana's love for Subaru is well known. For his first Gymkhana in 2020, normally done by his friend Ken block, he went all out in a modified WRX STI. The stock EJ25 makes around 310 hp, which is more than enough power for the street. Pastrana and his team upped the power on this WRX STI to 862 hp through a complete engine overhaul and bigger turbo. This is a record power output for the EJ engine block.

Active aero is part of the massive jumps and speeds that this car undertakes. The rear wing, front intake and diffusers adjust based on the vehicle's position. Although the chassis is stock, the body is bespoke. The team opted for a carbon fiber and kevlar mesh, replacing the rear exhaust with a front Inconel exhaust coming through the hood.

Of course, Travis Pastrana's life is more than rally and racing. The Mercedes-Maybach GLS600 is a luxury SUV for ferrying his wife and kids around on long trips. Powered by a Twin-Turbo V8 putting out 600 hp, this land yacht also features a 48V hybrid boost system.

The interior is typical Maybach luxury. Reclining rear-seats and a spacious cabin make any drive cozy enough. Plush massager seats with customizable ambient lighting allow for night drives to be as comfortable as in the day.

Nitro rally cross was created in 2018 by Travis Pastrana and the Nitro Circus team. For the 2019 season, Travis would compete in his all-time favorite car, the Subaru WRX STI. This year's car used a bespoke version of the 2.5-liter EJ25 with custom inter-cooling producing over 600 hp.

Although it is not built from the ground up like the Gymkhana car, there are several body modifications. Two front-side air intakes cool the brakes and improve downforce. Pastrana also used this car for the American Rally Association championship, so it saw quite the journey before being retired.

The car Travis Pastrana learned to drive in. We all have to start somewhere, and Travis' life of motocross and off-roading meant that he learned to drive in a Jeep CJ-5. Manufactured between 1966 and 1971, it is driven by a 3.7-liter V6 putting out 150 hp. These early consumer Jeeps are characterized by their lack of doors, which was eventually changed due to safety regulations.

A four-speed manual and simple construction means that these Jeeps can go anywhere. So much so, that they were popular with the military. Specific military Jeep versions of the CJ-5 were released across the world.

For the latest Gymkhana 22, Travis Pastrana went back to his roots. The retro '80s Subaru GL wagon was reborn into the ‘Family Huckster.’ A 2.3-liter EJ25 replaces the original engine. The block and heads are billet aluminum. Add that to a big-turbo setup, and it makes 862 hp.

Of course, you need a better gearbox to put that power down. A rallycross crankshaft and sequential gearbox are fit for this purpose. Active aero and body modifications add to the retro look and serve a practical purpose. Bigger tires mean more grip and a front bumper allows for extra air intake.

Compared to many other cars on this list, Travis's Subaru Forester seems pedestrian. A simple run around grocery getter. The turbocharged EE20 flat-four diesel puts out around 150 hp. There is the added fuel-economy that comes with a diesel. The Diesel Forester averages around 32 mpg, according to the EPA.

A CVT transmission means the power comes on quick in any situation. Cargo and cabin capacity are key factors when purchasing an SUV. Cargo comes in at 74.7 cubic feet, but with the rear seats folded down, the cabin comes in at 147 cubic feet.

Built by Vermont Sports Car, Ken Block and Travis competed in this car together, beating Colin McRae to the Rally America National Championship in 2007. It uses a turbocharged EJ25 making 300 hp in a 2,800 lbs package. A KAPS 5 speed dog-box is also fitted for speedy gear changes.

VSC stripped down the car, kitted it out with all the rally body modifications. The shell is spot welded at different points to provide extra rigidity. An FIA roll cage is mandatory to protect the drivers in an accident.
